I’m a single mother of three with a limited income. I love to give, whether it be things that I have used coupons to obtain and gotten them for free or be it extra school supplies I have kicking around my house, I give. There is one time of year that I love. It is World Book night. The process starts at the end of the year. You submit your application by a certain date and you find out if you are chosen to give a book. Last year, I gave The Alchemist, this year, I am giving, Waiting to Exhale. Of course I know that countless people have watched the movie, but I always feel that the book is better than the movie. There is something about getting the box, seeing the yellow sticker on the side, and my name on the address label. I know that one day a year, for the second year in a row, I get the honor to give and to share the love of reading. So I will say that today, as I make my way through my day and my evening, the people who will be fortunate enough to get a copy of the book, I hope they read it and enjoy it, even if it is their summer book selection. Giving is good, it does the heart, soul, and mind a world of good!
